About Us

On Woodward Avenue in Ferndale, Lodge #1588 has been doing things its own way for decades. The bar pours honestly priced drinks, the kitchen keeps the bar food simple and affordable, and on any given weekend you might walk into a drag queen bingo night, a Lions game watch party, or an opossum rescue fundraiser. That range is not an accident. It is exactly the kind of community the Elks have always attracted.

The space runs across two floors. The main bar level handles the everyday crowd, with an AMI jukebox, free dart boards, and the kind of regulars who will tell you what to order. The upstairs room hosts ticketed events and private parties, giving the lodge a flexibility that most bars on this stretch of Woodward simply cannot match. Members and their guests fill it out, and the 4.7-star average across nearly 280 reviews says the experience holds up.

Membership in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks connects you to something larger than a bar tab. The lodge supports local charities, veterans, and community programs throughout the Ferndale and greater Metro Detroit area. You get access to the full calendar of events, member pricing, and a place where showing up alone still means leaving with a conversation.

What We Offer

The Ferndale Elks Lodge #1588 runs as a full bar and grill open to members and their guests. Drinks are priced the way a lodge bar should be, well below what you would pay at a standard Woodward Avenue spot, with a rotating selection of beer, cocktails, and spirits. The kitchen turns out classic bar food, burgers, wings, and the kind of plates that pair well with a cold drink and a game on the screen.

Beyond the daily bar operation, the lodge hosts a packed events calendar. Live entertainment, themed bingo nights, fundraisers, and sports watch parties cycle through the schedule regularly. The upstairs event space accommodates private rentals for parties, organizational meetings, and community gatherings. Free darts are always available on the main floor, and the jukebox keeps the room going between sets.

Membership opens the full experience. Joining the Elks through Lodge #1588 gives you year-round access to all events at member rates, voting rights in lodge decisions, and the ability to bring guests into the space. Inquire at the bar or visit elks1588.com for current membership information and the upcoming events calendar.

"You need be a member or join a member to go here. I'm not a member, but I frequently join my friends who are members. Cheap drinks, typical bar food (also cheap), darts (free), AMI Play jukebox, good people/vibes. Obviously LGBTQIA+ friendly being in Ferndale. Great place to take dates and feel safe."

"Went for a Drag Queen bingo show and although the steps to get upstairs were a little daunting and not made for someone with any mobility limitations they had a bar and bathrooms to limit need to take them multiple times. The show was great! Highly recommend it over others I've seen in past years. The bar food offerings were limited but available, drinks were tasty and staff very friendly, accommodating and accessible. Didn't spend much time on main floor, but seemed like a typical bar atmosphere with plenty of seating at bar, tables and a large outdoor area in back also."

"I was there with a group for an opossum rescue fund raiser. Nice enough. Crowded since there was a Lions football game as well. Good seating even with the number of people there. Pictures are just random from the event however they give a little more information."

"Had a fun time here. Bartenders were great! Friendly and efficient even though the place was jam packed at the time. Beer was cheap and other drinks were also on special."

"A very fun place to go hang out. They don't have a pool table but they have 4 dart machines which is even better in my opinion. Drinks dirt cheap. Plenty of activities throughout the week. Love this place."
